Premium A2-70 stainless steel button head self-tapping screws with Type B point. Phillips drive, passivated finish. Resists rust & salt water. For marine, food processing & chemical equipment. M4-M8 sizes.
Demanding corrosive environments require durable fasteners. Our **A2 Stainless Steel Button Head Self-Tapping Screws with Type B (Blunt) Point** deliver exceptional rust and chemical resistance combined with reliable thread-forming performance. Manufactured from A2-70 (304) stainless steel, they excel in **marine, coastal, outdoor, food processing, and chemical exposure** applications. The **Type B blunt point** ensures precise thread cutting in pre-drilled holes without damaging thin materials, while the **low-profile button head** minimizes protrusion and snagging. The **Phillips drive** provides secure tool engagement. Passivation enhances corrosion resistance.

Primary Uses & Applications:
* Marine hardware & boat building (deck fittings, hatches,
railings).
* Outdoor equipment & enclosures exposed to weather/salt spray.
* Food & beverage processing machinery & conveyors.
* Chemical plant instrumentation & tank fittings.
* Pharmaceutical equipment & cleanroom fixtures.
* Architectural metalwork (stainless railings, cladding).
* High-corrosion industrial environments (pulp & paper, water
treatment).
* Joining stainless steel sheets or components.
Surface Treatment/Finishes:
* **Passivation (Standard):** Essential chemical process removing
free iron and enhancing the natural chromium oxide passive layer
for maximum corrosion resistance. Slightly matte finish.
* **Electropolishing (Optional):** Creates a smoother, brighter,
more reflective surface. Further enhances corrosion resistance,
improves cleanability (ideal for food/pharma), and slightly reduces
friction during installation.
How to Use:
1. **Prevent Galling:** **ESSENTIAL STEP!** Apply a **stainless
steel specific anti-seize compound** (e.g., nickel-based)
generously to the screw threads before installation. This
drastically reduces friction and prevents galling (cold
welding/seizing), especially in stainless-on-stainless
applications.
2. **Prepare Hole:** **Drill a precise pilot hole** slightly
smaller than the screw's **minor diameter** (core dia. - approx.
75-85% of nominal shank dia.) in the top material. Hole quality is
critical for Type B performance. Use sharp drills, deburr.
3. **Align & Insert:** Position materials. Insert the screw.
4. **Drive:** Insert the **correct size key/bit**. Drive the screw
at a **MODERATE SPEED** with **steady, firm pressure**. The Type B
point will cut clean threads. **Avoid high RPMs** which generate
heat and dramatically increase galling/seizing risk.
5. **Tighten:** Seat the button head firmly. **DO NOT
OVERTIGHTEN.** Use the recommended torque for A2 stainless steel.
Stop once resistance increases significantly after head seating.
6. **Removal:** Use the correct key/bit. Apply steady torque.
Anti-seize should facilitate removal. If seized, do not force -
risk breaking the head.
